Young Thinkers Inducted into Science Honor Society

Ten prestigious high school science scholars were inducted into The Science National Honor Society which is a prominent scientific organization that engenders a new group of young thinkers who will be the future of industry, research, and scientific exploration for America. Those selected demonstrated achievement in science learning, are service minded, and present excellent personal character.

SNHS has been going strong at Wantagh High School for the last nine years highlighting the accomplishments of students who have excelled in competitions like Science Olympiad, Health Occupation Students of America, Wantagh Foundation for Furthering Sciences, Wantagh Animal Rights and Recycling, and Long Island Science Congress to name a few.

Evan Thole, Wantagh SNHS historian and new recipient of the Outstanding Science Student award by the Nassau County Chapter of the Science Teachers Association of New York State, presented the keynote address through a pre-recorded video entitled, “Why Science is Rad.”   He opened by saying that “science will continue to be the driving force behind change for the better, not just for us but for generations after.”

President Katherine Killian led the inductees to recite the SNHS pledge to best represent the academic goals of the honor society, remain active in community service, and encourage the pursuit of scientific knowledge benefitting all mankind, the student executive board presented incoming members with an official certificate and pin distributed by the chapter officers.
