Positions

Per Diem Substitutes

We are always seeking qualified teachers to join us as per diem substitutes.  If you are interested in working with us on a per diem basis, please apply on OLAS.  You must hold a valid NYS teacher certification.

Permanent Substitutes

Wantagh Middle School and High School are seeking certified teachers to be permanent substitute teachers for the 2024-2025 school year.
All teacher certifications welcomed.

  • English Teacher – Secondary
    • romote a positive classroom environment that focuses on student-centered and student-driven learning experiences.

    • demonstrate expertise in journalism and rhetoric.

    • possess a deep understanding of and proficiency in English language and literature, the reading and writing workshop models, the New York State Next Generation English Language Arts Learning Standards and the NYS English assessments (Grades 7-8 English Language Arts tests; English Regents exam).

    • develop and implement differentiated lessons that are consistent with the district’s goals and vision for learning.

    • enhance and facilitate critical learning processes by seeking out, acquiring, and sharing the most pertinent and up-to-date resources (print, electronic, audio/visual) with students, faculty and other community members.

    • collaborate with colleagues to horizontally and vertically align curriculum, enhance instructional practices, and meet district academic goals.

    • support students in becoming civic-minded, empathetic, and caring learners and citizens.

    • effectively communicate with students and their families.

    • Must have NYS English 7-12 Certification and NYS K-12 Fingerprinting
