Wantagh STEM Director Brings Innovative Mindset

The Wantagh School District welcomes Christopher Kozak as the new director of STEM. He replaces Carol-Ann Winans, who was promoted to executive director of curriculum and instruction.

Mr. Kozak joins Wantagh from the Long Beach School District, where he served as the director of mathematics for the past three years. Prior to that, he spent 12 years in the Lynbrook School District as a middle school and high school math teacher, teacher-in-charge and chairperson of mathematics and computer technology. His educational career began in 2005 in New York City, teaching seventh and eighth grade mathematics.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from SUNY Old Westbury, a master’s degree in mathematics education from CUNY Brooklyn College and administrative certification from LIU Post. Mr. Kozak is a member of the Nassau County Association of Mathematics Supervisors, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Asian Pacific American Council of Educators, Long Island chapter.

“I am grateful to work with Wantagh’s students, families, faculty and administration,” Mr. Kozak said. “Our school district offers challenging, innovative and engaging opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. I aim to continue supporting our district’s vision of creating outstanding educational experiences for all our students.”
