Wantagh Elementary Fifth Graders Filled With Pride
Wantagh Elementary School’s 107 graduates took their seats under a black-and-gold balloon arch on the high school auditorium stage on June 25 for their moving-up ceremony. They beamed with pride as they looked at their equally proud family members in the audience.
Students processed in to “Pomp and Circumstance,” followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and “America.” The fifth grade graduates then sang “Shine Your Way” under the direction of music teacher Beth Marinis.
Fifth grade teachers came up to the microphone to announce each of their students, while reflecting on the school year.
“We share your feelings of pride and love as they complete their journey at Wantagh Elementary School,” teacher Elisa Ferrara told the families.
Principal Dr. Randee Bonagura boasted that this year’s class is responsible, respectful and good citizens of the school and community. They have grown immensely both individually and as a class. In her advice to them for middle school, Dr. Bonagura reminded them to work hard, be humble about their achievements, be quick to compliment others, get involved, treat others with kindness and thoughtfulness, and always smile.
After the ceremony, students reunited with their families in the lobby, then went outside to enjoy some light refreshments.
