2nd Graders Share Stories with 1st Graders During Reading Celebration

Posted Date: 01/18/2024

At Wantagh Elementary School, the spirit of creativity and community recently came alive as Ms. Baker’s 2nd-grade students embarked on a literary journey that not only honed their storytelling skills but also fostered a sense of connection with their younger 1st grade peers. These young authors crafted personal narratives and had the opportunity to share them with 1st graders from Ms. Shevlin’s class during a special reading celebration.

The lesson aimed to not only enhance the students' literacy skills but also instill a love for storytelling and reading at an early age. Under the guidance of their teachers, the 2nd graders shared personal narratives that ranged from adventures to Jobo Beach, Adventures on the Disney Dream, and “My Trip to Legoland” to name a few.

The event was a testament to the nurturing environment at Wantagh  Elementary School, where creativity is celebrated, and students are encouraged to express themselves to one another through writing.
