Excitement filled the Wantagh High School auditorium as 8th-grade students gathered for the highly anticipated Family Feud assembly. Upon arrival, students were divided into Black and Gold teams, setting the stage for a spirited competition. Each team settled into their black and gold team “family,” ready to battle it out in a game of wits and quick thinking.
Adding to the fun, Ms. Bellucci and Ms. Briguglio fully embraced their role as hosts, each sporting a faux mustache in homage to the legendary Family Feud host, Steve Harvey. Before diving into the main competition, 8th grade teachers took part in a demonstration round to show students who had never seen or played Family Feud before.
The introductory round helped clarify the modified middle school rules and provided some very entertaining moments. One of the first questions asked of the 8th grade teachers was, "Which teacher is the most likely to send students to the Dean?" bringing plenty of answers which made the board, but the #1 answer was Ms. Hult!
Once the main competition began, students went head-to-head in a series of teacher survey-based questions. When asked, “What are students most likely to forget in class?” the top answers included Chromebooks, independent reading books, sneakers, pencils, and what day it is! The teams strategized, hit the buzzers at lightning speed, and delivered some creative answers, making for a thrilling 3-round showdown.
In the end, the principals took the stage testing their knowledge of favorite snacks, which colored folder belongs to which subject. Mr. Ciuffo and Ms. Quattrochi were good sports through it all but in the end, after several intense rounds, the Gold Team came out on top, celebrating their well-earned win. The assembly was a fantastic mix of teamwork, humor, and school spirit, leaving students and teachers with great memories and plenty of laughs.
