7th Graders Learn Lesson in Collaboration Through “How To” Projects
Ms. Fragola's 7th grade Research & Debate class partnered with Ms. Desson’s Life Skills Class earlier this month on a fun and engaging project highlighting research, collaboration and presentation skills.
Students were placed in small groups where they discussed a “how to” project from beginning to end which would be presented as a group in front of the class. Before the project began, students were encouraged to get to know their group members, easing any nerves in working with students they may be unfamiliar with.
Once the ice was broken, the brainstorming began with students discussing various ideas on what type of “how to” their group would present. The presentations covered topics like how to Dutch braid hair, make a candy salad, kick a soccer ball, create a candy charcuterie board, and tell time on an analog clock.
After each group carefully outlined their notes, the next task included creating a poster with step-by-step instructions to be used during the presentation.
This project taught students about collaboration, delegating roles, planning projects, and supporting each other.
