Senior Vocalist Named Alternate for All-State Festival
Wantagh High School senior Ashlee Fucarino has been named an alternate for the chorus for the New York State School Music Association’s annual festival in December.
Music has been a big part of Ashlee’s life for more than a decade. She joined the St. Frances Theatre Group at nearby St. Frances de Chantal Church when she was 6, as well as taking vocal lessons and dance classes. In elementary school, Ashlee began playing the trumpet with the band and she joined the chorus in 10th grade.
This year, Ashlee is enrolled in the Onora le Voci honors chorus class, in addition to being a member of the A-cappella Choir, the honor wind ensemble, the concert band, the jazz band and the brass ensemble. She is also an active member of Wantagh theater and will perform in her seventh high school show in November, “Puffs.” Ashlee studies musical theater at the Nassau BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts.
Last year, Ashlee won Outstanding Performance by an Actress in the Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance competition. She was recognized for her portrayal of Lucy in the spring musical, “Jekyll and Hyde.”
After high school, Ashlee hopes to continue studying musical theater with dreams of becoming a Broadway actress.
