Friendly Officers Share Safety Tips at Forest Lake
A pair of Nassau County police officers recently visited Forest Lake Elementary School to promote safety for students.
Officers Daniel Capellan and Teana Grande, of the Nassau County Police Department’s Community Affairs bureau, held a pair of safety-oriented programs on March 26. Officer Grande met with students in pre-K, kindergarten, first and second grade a stranger danger presentation. She talked about tricks that “bad strangers” might use and cautioned students against giving out their personal information. Additionally, she spoke about “safe strangers,” like police officers and firefighters.
For students in grades 3-5, Officer Capellan led a bicycle safety demonstration. He reminded students to wear their helmets, spoke of basic safety rules and showed students how to make themselves visible to drivers.
