Hard Work Pays Off for College-Bound Athletes

At Wantagh High School, 13 is not unlucky as it represents the number of athletes from the Class of 2024 who will go on to play collegiate sports. The seniors, who will join for Division I and II teams next year, were recognized at a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony on Nov. 14.

There to celebrate the accomplishment were district and high school administrators, as well as parents and coaches. Congratulatory remarks from physical education, health and athletics Director Jennifer Keane and Principal Dr. Paul Guzzone emphasized the students’ commitment to both athletics and academics. 

“Today is a celebration of all the hard work and dedication that our student-athletes have put into the sports that they love,” Ms. Keane said, “and in return will be continuing to play and getting a great education to prepare them for their futures.” 

Assistant Principal Dr. Christopher Widmann introduced each athlete while speaking about his or her athletic accomplishments at Wantagh High School and college plans. The students are heading to colleges across Long Island and in multiple states.
