Wantagh High School senior Alessandra Hermes-Bevans has been named a Long Island Scholar Artist for the 2023-2024 school year. The distinction is presented by the Long Island Arts Alliance in partnership with Newsday and supported by the New York Community Band Foundation and the Arts Reach Fund at Long Island Community Foundation.

Only 20 students from across Long Island were named scholar artists this year, and Alessandra is only one of four to be selected in the dance category. She also attends BOCES Long Island High School for the Arts, where she is enrolled in the dance program.
