Wantagh High School students completed the first week of school by participating in their first assembly led by Dr. Guzzone, Dr. Widmann, and Mr. Pappas which touched on expectations from students. Dr. Guzzone told students, “Our job is to prepare you for the world.”

During the presentation, students were reminded of the new cell phone, Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage, attendance, detention, attendance, late to school, student conduct, Privileges Denied List (PDL), and lunch policies to name a few.

Dr. Pappas shared that students should dress in a way to be in the best position to be successful in school. They were reminded that they should continue to represent Wantagh High School in the right way when leaving the building for lunch and that food deliveries are not allowed. 

With school safety a priority, guards routinely check doors throughout the day making sure they are both closed and locked. Dr. Widmann reminded students to take their safety seriously and to never open the doors for anyone, even if it’s a friend.  

The newly revised Late Work Policy which includes hefty deductions over a 48-hour time frame, as referred to in Dr. Guzzone’s Parent Square communication dated August 30, was also an important topic during the assembly.

Before students were dismissed, Dr. Guzzone made it clear that he does not condone bullying. “It’s not just what you say, but bullying can come through digital means. Don’t let something you say or do today ruin your future.”
