Wantagh Theatre Garners Prestigious Award

Wantagh Theatre Garners Prestigious Marketing Award

Wantagh Theatre is pleased to announce that its earlier production of “Clue” and its current production of “Cinderella” has garnered the special 2021 PlayBillder Award from the Roger Rees Awards committee. This award recognizes school theater programs for their comprehensive and engaging marketing plans, including a Broadway-quality playbill or program.

“Cinderella” director Kimberly Davis said both Playbill covers will be featured in the annual Roger Rees Awards program this coming June. The theater program will also receive a free Playbillder license for the next production, an editorial feature highlighting the district’s theater program on Playbill.com, and a framed copy of the “Cinderella” program.

“It is no doubt that we won this award due to senior Lauren Mertig’s superb work creating the cover art and other program materials for both productions,” Ms. Davis said. “In a year full of uncertainties and restrictions, it was invaluable to have such a talented and dedicated student to create our Playbills and the PlayBillder program to help engage our remote audiences.”

The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance is sponsored by the Disney Theatrical Group and the Broadway Education Alliance and in association with Camp Broadway LLC. The RRA is a New York metro student-award program which recognizes excellence and distinction in high school musical theater.

Wantagh Theatre will stream their production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” on June 5-6. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at ShowTix4U.com/events/Wantagh.
