Wantagh Theater Students Honored at Roger Rees Awards

Wantagh High School had an incredible showing at the Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance, which was held on May 19 at the Gerald  W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College.  


    Junior Ashlee Fucarino won the top prize of Outstanding Female Performance in a Musical for her portrayal of Lucy in the spring production of “Jekyll and Hyde.” Senior Anthony Lerro, who played the dual roles of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, was first runner-up in the male category, taking home the Emerging Artist Award. 


Ashlee will continue on to represent Wantagh and the entire Greater New York Region in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, the Jimmy's, next month. She will make her Broadway Theatre debut in the awards showcase at the Minskoff Theatre on June 24.

Alyssa Alexander, Grace Bellia, Olivia Magoloff and Lianna Menegalli were also recognized at the ceremony for their New Faces Awards in Acting and Dance. All of the students attended with theater teacher and director, Dr. Kimberly Davis.
