Junior Awards Show Strength of Rising Class of 2026

As the school year winds down, much of the spotlight often shines on graduating seniors and festive elementary school milestones. But we can’t forget those quietly advancing to the next grade level who are also shining with academic achievements, such as our top students rising to the Wantagh High School class of 2026.
On June Friday, June 6th, the Wantagh High School Guidance Department honored its top 23 juniors for their outstanding academic performance and meaningful contributions to both the school and the wider community. The recognitions included book awards and/or scholarships tied to schools such as Rochester Institute of Technology, Tulane University, Sacred Heart University, University of Virginia, University of Chicago, and Havard College to name a few. Many awards were accompanied by scholarships dependent on college acceptance.
As students eagerly awaited to hear their name, heartfelt words and accolades were read sprinkled with hints of who the recipient might be. As smiles begin to appear on the yet-to-be-announced recipient, familiarity of one's accomplishments are recognized.
“These students represent the pinnacle of academic excellence,” said the department. “This awards ceremony not only celebrates their hard work and achievements, but also symbolizes the transition of leadership from the Class of 2025 to the Class of 2026.”
A heartfelt thank you goes to Ms. Jones, Ms. Gordon, Ms. Zarrella, Mr. Tallarine, and Director of Guidance Frank Muzio, who shared thoughtful remarks about each honoree before presenting the awards.
