Science National Honor Society Welcomes New Members

“Fortunate is he who understands the causes of things” is on the crest of the Science National Honor Society which recently inducted 16 new members into its ranks April 11. The honor society was established 19 years ago nationally, but is fairly new to Wantagh High School.
SNHS Historian, Isabella, shared some of her favorite activities held by the group which included making slime during the Spooktacular, and visiting the Science Museum. She also thanked science teacher and club advisor Ms. Casey Clarke for being an amazing advisor over the years.
Before the induction began, keynote speaker Evelyn Caputo quoted Star Wars great, Yoda, who says, “The greatest teacher failure is” and to remain determined no matter what because failure and science can be a wonderful thing.
A few of the qualifications for membership include enrollment in at least one honors or AP level science class during or prior to 10th grade; currently enrolled in at least one honors or AP or college level science class during both 11th and 12th grade; and a minimum unweighted average of 90 across all science courses.
