Q: My child just changed schools. How can I change the school associated with my account?

A: For parents/guardians that have an old Schoology account from another school, it cannot be combined with a Wantagh Schoology Parent Account. To free up the email address associated with that account, a parent/guardian can choose to delete it and then use their email address for a new account with Wantagh.

To delete your old account, please follow these directions:

  1. Login to your old Schoology account that you wish to delete.
  2. Navigate to: https://app.schoology.com/settings/account/action?delete

How to delete account

  1. Click the "I Agree" to delete the account.

Q: I cannot see all of my child's courses.

A: In order for you to see a complete list of all the courses your child is enrolled in on Schoology, you will need to click Enrollments after signing into your Parent Account.

Please keep in mind that you will only see the courses that are being held in the current marking period. If there is a course that you do not see that your student is enrolled in, it is most likely because that course does not start until a later marking period.

To set Enrollments as your default view when you sign in to your account, please follow these directions:

  1. Login to your Schoology account.
  2. Click the down arrow next to your name in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Under Other Options, click the circle next to Course Dashboard.
  5. Click Save Changes.

As for when you click on Courses in the gold banner, that view only displays the maximum of 12 courses.

In order to see different courses in this view, your child would need to reorder his/her courses by clicking the “Wantagh School District” icon in the top left corner in the gold banner. This will bring him/her to the Course Dashboard where all of his/her courses will display. He/she can then drag and drop the course tiles to reorder them. You, as the parent, will then see the first 12 courses according to the ones your child has put in order.

Q: I cannot see my child's assignments. I am receiving a "Private Access Only" message.

A: If you are trying to view one of your child's assignments in Schoology and you are receiving the following message:

Private Access Only

This means that your child was assigned a Schoology Google Drive Assignment. Unfortunately, parents/guardians cannot view their child's Schoology Google Drive Assignments with their Schoology Parent Account.

According to Schoology Support, this is due to Schoology leveraging Google's permission-sharing capabilities at this time. As a result, all student copies of Google Drive Assignments are only shared with the teacher who created the assignment and the student who opens it. All other visitors to the course such as parents/guardians, guidance counselors, advisors, will not be able to view the student's submission. Parents/Guardians will receive an "Access Denied" error message or the "Private Access Only" message depicted above.

As a work-around, we recommend the following solutions to view your child's Schoology Google Drive Assignments:

  • Signing into your child's Wantagh Google account on your child's district-provided Chromebook or personal device.
  • Having your child share the Google Document to your email address from his/her Google  Drive. The document is either in a folder entitled "Schoology Google Drive Assignments" or a folder entitled "Assignments".
