Goals of Physical Education:

  • To develop competence in locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative skills, and an understanding of time, space, and force.
  • To achieve a successful transition from basic skills to implementation in lead-up games through risk-taking and problem-solving.
  • To experience a variety of individual team and fitness activities using teamwork and competition as a basis for life-long learning and activity.
  • To achieve a positive sense of self-esteem through the appreciation of one's own skill level, body awareness and successful participation as it relates to healthy living.
  • To demonstrate respect through sports-like behavior.
  • To develop an understanding of terminology, strategy, and rules of the game.
  • To acquire the ability to set and pursue goals as an individual and as a member of a group.
  • To gain the ability to create a personal fitness program.
